Hello all
As my hubby takes statins (newly diagnosed) will he be able to get free prescriptions as its a life long medication?
I know you can buy season tickets, but these work out £135 per year.

Don't mean to be flipant, but you could always move to Wales!
Or Scotland! They also do gene testing for FH without the almighty hassle that I had in England.
wow, so if you live in either Wales or Scotland you get free prescriptions.
We have our house up for sale so as soon as a buyer comes forward .........I wish they would hurry !
Thanks for your replies x
Yes, it's true!l live in Wales so thankfully I get free prescriptions. I can't understand why everyone can't get them. I always thought it was a United Kingdom. Apparently not.
The annual prepayment certificate works out at £104 by the way - the cheapest way to go if you have the money.
You can also get free prescriptions in many cases where you qualify. See apps.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/ppcwebsa... and the HC11 document linked from there.
bhf.org.uk/get-involved/cam... seems to be the current state of the prescription charge exemption. Summary: it was frozen by the new coalition as soon as they took office and shows no sign of progress since. HEART UK does not seem to be a member of the Prescriptions Charges Coalition - anyone know why not?
Traci suggested last September when I asked that "this was brought up at HEART UK's conference in July. Jules Payne indicated that she was going to look into this and they were considering lobbying for it... I am not sure where HEART UK are up to with this yet though as it is still early days."
I've been on statins for over 15 years and it costs a fortune so free perscriptions would be great.
